Although pediatric clerkships are guided by goals and objectives specified by the APA/COMSEP General Pediatric Clerkship Curriculum, we know little about the subjective experiences of students in this required clinical training. While achievement of objective goals is assessed through various methods, we lack effective ways of examining students’ thoughts and feelings about clerkship participation. Yet we know that students seek from their Pediatrics clerkship not only scientifically rigorous instruction, but also other kinds of humanistic learning.
